Team Inert: Struggling against gravitational oppression since 1966
That was our slogan. "Team Inert" was the name two guys from work and I gave ourselves one day when we decided we were going to run a marathon. Our oldest member was born in, you guessed it, '66. We even had a logo:
The name proved prophetic, not one of us actually made it to the marathon. I was the last to drop. I think the first member dropped to lack of time, the second to lack of interest, and me, well I balked at paying the $65 entrance fee. At the time I was trying to save up for a Fitsense running computer and $65 was damn near exactly what I needed. In the end, I got a Forerunner instead anyway.
If you're going to fail, I find it's better to do it with friends. That way they can't make fun of you later.
Perhaps one fateful day team inert will begin again it's quest for the holy 26th mile only to yet again peter out and die as a group of selfish individuals. Next time I'll be sure we pick a cheaper marathon.
